Intermediate District 287 Curriculum
Curriculum Groups
All licensed staff, who provide primary instruction, learn and work together as they review curriculum and align it to standards. While standards alignment is necessary, it is not all that is needed. We must create the next level of meaning by assuring that certain "big ideas" or essential standards are emphasized from classroom to classroom. The two ongoing goals for curriculum groups are:
1. To meet others teaching the discipline to form a districtwide network supporting one another's instruction, and
2. To complete the work necessary to continually improve and document our curriculum.
Subject area groups will meet three times this year:
- September 20, 2012
- November 8, 2012
- March 8, 2013
Using our web based document sharing SharePoint system, subject area groups post information on essential or "big ideas" to teach, among all the subject area standards, as well as posting sample lesson plans and other relevant materials and resources.
These can be accessed on the SharePoint Curriculum Resources web pages (this takes you to the log on screen for SharePoint.)
If you have any questions about using curriculum resources feel free to contact the Curriculum Group Leadership (see PDF directory at right.)
