Construction - EPC Only

The goal of this course is to provide students with experiences and examples of the construction industry that will allow them to assess their own abilities and interests in the various construction disciplines.

- Floor framing
- Wall framing
- Stair framing
- Insulation and drywall
- Blueprint reading

Basic Automotive Skills - Fall or Spring Semester
BPC - 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
(No Hennepin Technical College articulated credit isavailable for this course.)
This
course is designed for students with limited reading ability that have an
interest in mechanical systems. It is an introductory course which will take a
student and add to his or her skill level.
Areas of Study:
- Tire changing and balancing
- Power tool identification
- Hazardous waste regulation
- Vehicle hoist procedure
- Basic automotive maintenance
Transportation Program of Study
Fall or Spring Semester
EPC - 10:00 a.m.
(No Hennepin Technical College articulated credit is available for this course.)
This introductory course is designed for ELL students or students with limited reading ability that have an interest in mechanical systems. This is an intensive hands-on course to reinforce new words, ideas, and information, and to use these by participating in many shop projects.

- Shop safety
- Vehicle hoist procedure
- Basic automotive maintenance
- Tire changing and balancing
- Wire soldering techniques
- Hand and power tool identification and usage
Auto Body Repair
BPC and EPC
8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m. and 12:10 p.m.
This course is designed to introduce students to the exciting world of auto body technology. This course can start students on their way towards becoming proficient in the auto body industry.

- Automotive refinishing
- Detailing
- Estimating
- Painting

Automotive Technology
BPC - 12:10 p.m.
EPC - 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
EPC - 12:10 Math Enhanced Course**
Students will study basic automotive systems and begin techniques, and maintenance procedures regularly performed on automobiles. Students and conduct repair and maintenance procedures on tires, steering, suspension and electrical systems on donated cars or their own cars. In addition, students will acquire shop safety habits essential to work in an automotive service shop.
Areas of Study:
- Suspension and steering
- Basic automotive electricity
*Note: A uniform fee of approximately $30 will be required.
** EPC - 12:10 Math Enhanced Course
In this Automotive Technology course, students use mathematics applied in a technical context. Particular attention will be paid to the areas tested on the Graduation-Required Assessments for Diploma (GRAD) portion of the MCA test.
